The History of Kid’s Bible Clubs

July 1999– The first Bible Club session was conducted at Shadowood Mobile Home Park as a ministry of First Baptist Church of Woodstock in partnership with Freedom Baptist Church. It was directed by Marie Alexander and attended by 13 children.

December 1999- The evangelistic Happy Birthday Jesus Christmas Parties began.

July 2000– God opened a door to begin the second Club in partnership with Feed My Lambs Christian Preschool at the Red Barn Trailer Park, with 5 children attending the first meeting.

Summer of 2000– The first Kid’s Bible Club summer camp was conducted at Camp Gideon with 60 children attending, including a special Sunday service and lunch for the children’s families. The yearly camps have enhanced the weekly ministry to the children immensely! Bus ministry to local Vacation Bible Schools also began that year.

2001-2004– Numerical growth and spiritual fruit increased as the two Clubs continued to meet at the Shadowood and Red Barn facilities. By mid-2004, over 200 children from 7 mobile home parks were enrolled. A van was being used to bring children in from the other locations. Volunteer staff had grown to 14.

October 2004– Within a 2 week period involving unrelated circumstances beyond our control, both doors were suddenly closed for conducting the Club meetings at the Shadowood and Red Barn facilities. After much prayer, it was apparent that God was moving these ministries to a new location at CrossRoads Community Church (formerly Freedom Baptist) and they were combined into one Club
. Busses were miraculously provided as the existing volunteer staff and new volunteers from this and other churches took on this new endeavor!

June 2005-- We were invited to begin a club for the summer at a complex for women and children fleeing domestic abuse run by the Cherokee Family Violence Center. At the conclusion of the summer season, our prayers were answered as we were given the opportunity to continue the club year-round!

August 2006– The Bible Club at CrossRoads Community Church has grown rapidly in its first year with a children’s enrollment of 350 from 20-plus neighborhoods and a volunteer staff of approximately 35 people from various churches. Six buses and vans are being used to transport the children. The scope of the ministry to both children and their families has also broadened substantially. In 2006, over 100 of the children attended one of our 3 summer camps. In addition, the Bible Club at the Cherokee Family Violence Center continues to develop and grow.

August 2007– The Kid’s Bible Clubs Ministries, Inc, was incorporated as a Georgia domestic non-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) tax status was granted by the IRS.
